Traverse City Michigan

We arrived Saturday at Leelanau Pines Campground in Cedar, which is about 15 miles northwestish from Traverse City. It is really a nice campground.  Our spot sits at an angle towards the water. It's full of old trees which makes for great shade. We are the only motorhome in the park.  Everything else is either travel trailers, pop ups or tents.  There is only 30 amp service here so that's probably why. But we opted to shuffle around the a/c, etc to make it work. It's been well worth it.

Sunday morning we got up and went to the visitors center to see what was around us. We discovered that there is a peninsula that shoots out in the middle of Traverse Bay making a west side and east side.  The peninsula is 15 miles long.  Was a great little drive with local stops for fresh produce and old tyme general stores.  The one we stopped at even sold moonshine and it sold flavored moonshine.  Who would think that!   Headed up to the Old Mission Lighthouse at the tip of the peninsula for the view. This area falls on the 45th parallel, which is equal distance between North Pole and the equator.

Yesterday I was in desperate need of manicure and pedicure so I headed I to the city for a little primping.

Today, we decided to ride up the north shoreline to north port and around and down to Leland.  We went through several quaint artsy waterfront towns and ended up eating lunch in Leland. As we went through Leland, we saw a building called "Van's Garage.  Then we saw in one of the stores that had shirts that said "Van's Beach" but we don't know the history behind it.  So Van had to buy a t-shirt, of course.

Monet gets groomed tomorrow and we plan to go to the downtown section of Traverse City for some shopping.  There's a quilt shop and yarn shop so I'll be pretty happy.

This is really a beautiful area.   There are rolling hills, trees, farmland and water which make for some beautiful sights.  Short of the subzero temperatures in the winter, I could understand people  wanting to live here.

We miss everyone and hope all is well with you.

This is the view of the lake from our campsite.

   It's just a beautiful campground.
